Description

Kanuka is an original character by :iconkanuka76: and this is an entry for her elemental contest. So I drew her playing around with earth magic! ;) The fire wings are one of her permanent characteristics. For more info about her check out the contest info: [link]

Various brushes were used here and there from Brusheezy: [link];page=2&;psv= and Brush King: [link]

The colors and details on this piece are really quite wonderful. Gold and Velvet colors always work well together.

I do love the feathers here as well, it reminds me of some of Alex Grey's work(google him), but the placement is aggravating. The wings run off the page before you can really enjoy the flow of the feathers. And to put such effort into detail like that only to have the effect lost on the viewer because of poor placement is tragic. I would suggest placing your subject lower and toward the right (from my POV) use the rule of thirds(google it if you don't understand, a very important placement guide).

Practice your anatomy. The legs are out of proportion to the upper body. Woman should have long legs. And fantasy woman are a lot like drawing comic book woman. My favorite book for studying the anatomy of comic style characters is "Drawing Cutting Edge Comics", by Christopher Heart. Get it! it will change your world<img src="e.deviantart.com/emoticons/w/w…" width="15" height="15" alt=";)" title=";) (Wink)" />

Great piece, always push yourself to be better.
